LA Tech SOD Student Show and SOD Gala 2025

SOD Student Show

It's "School of Design Season," as I like to say, and Spring quarter never fails to bring a whirlwind of creativity and excitement! This time of year is packed with SOD events that showcase the talent and hard work of fellow artists.

Things kicked off with the much-anticipated Student Show, juried by none other than Ariya Martin. The exhibition was truly inspiring, and I thoroughly enjoyed Ariya Martin's artist talk—it left an indelible mark on me as both an artist and a student. I'm absolutely honored to have been awarded the Best in 3D Award for my piece, "Sunray." This life-sized, abstract self-portrait represents a deeply personal journey for me, and seeing it recognized was a proud moment.

But the excitement doesn't end there! I'm thrilled to share that "Sunray" has found a new home at Creative Exchange. In April, you'll be able to see her on display in their Mini Gallery, elegantly showcased in the front windows of the store. I can hardly wait for the chance to share this piece with a wider audience.

The SOD Gala was another standout event this season. Last year, I missed it, so I was beyond excited to attend this year. The Rococo theme made it an unforgettable experience—I embraced the opulence of the era by creating my own dress and accessories and danced the night away. It was truly magical!

I also loved contributing to the Gala in another way. As the treasurer of the Society of Studio Art Students, I had the privilege of helping with the decorations. We crafted delicate tissue flowers that adorned the venue, adding a handmade touch to an already stunning event.

Spring quarter has been a season of growth, celebration, and artistry—a reminder of why I'm so passionate about being part of the School of Design community.
