Artist Bio

My name is Taryn Davidson, and I am currently in my second year at Louisiana Tech University, pursuing a BFA in Studio Art. I am fortunate to attend one of the best design schools in Louisiana, where I am surrounded by other young, emerging artists and have discovered my passion for fiber arts and sculpture. I eagerly seize any opportunity to grow my skills as an artist and connect with other creators.

This past summer, I attended a work-study program at Snow Farm Craft Program in western Massachusetts. During my one-month stay, I served as the on-site coordinator, acting as a knowledgeable point person and managing campus needs while attending courses in paper crafts, leatherwork, and glassblowing. From March through August of 2024, I participated in the North Louisiana Art Interchange, where I expanded my practice and built valuable connections with fellow artists. As well as this, I was honored to be nominated for the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council Emerging Artist Award. The encouragement, feedback, and collaborative spirit of my community have been instrumental in shaping my artistic journey.

I was fortunate to grow up in a household that encouraged and cultivated my creativity. As a result, my art is often inspired by the activities that brought me joy during my childhood. When I sew, I’m reminded of standing on my grandmother’s chair and watching as she seamlessly guides the fabric into her machine, passing on her knowledge from her years as a seamstress and quilter. When I work with vibrant chalk pastels, I’m brought back to hot summer days spent sprawled out on my driveway, painting with homemade chalk paint.

I have no greater joy on this Earth than sharing my work with the world, and I know I’m just getting started.
